Yue Kee

Yue Kee

Ahh, to be back on campus in West Philly. How I’ve missed my “food cart meal plan”. Around 8:00 on Tuesday night, lazy and hungry. Decided that some Chinese food from Yue Kee would hit the spot for me. So I pulled out one of the menus that I have lying around my room and decided on Pork and Eggplant in Black Bean Sauce (and dish I have found to be very reliably delicious) and a pint of Hot and Sour Soup.

Mee Noodle Shop

Mee

This lunch special was nothing short of huge and delicious. I ordered the Sesame Chicken (noted by the Chili Pepper for spicy). It came with my choice of Soup or Egg Roll which I opted for Egg Drop Soup as well as my choice of type of rice between white, brown, and fried (I chose fried).

Prosperity Dumpling

Prosperity Dumpling

This place is the definition of dirty little hole-in-the-wall and that is why I love it!

Hing Won

Hing Won

After Zach at Midtown Lunch posted about the “Roast Pig over Rice” I knew that was the type of dish I would like and decided to take a visit there during lunch. I arrived at 12:25 and the place was relatively tame. I only needed to wait behind 2 people before I ordered. About 5 minutes later (surprisingly fast) my order was called out so I grabbed it and paid. Within these 5 minutes Hing Won had turned into a zoo. There was now a horde of people behind me and line of like 12-15. Unbelievable the difference 5 minutes makes.

Vanessa’s Dumplings

Dinner at Vanessa’s Dumplings. This place is really close to where I live, though I hear there’s a Chinatown Vanessa’s that is even better. I found this to be an excellent quickie-meal  because it is so close, fast, and cheap. I came in here because of the dumplings, but I will return because of the Sesame Pancake Sandwich. I chose to eat the  Chive & Pork Dumplings (Fried) and a Sesame Pancake Sandwich with Roast Pork. Delicious and it totaled $5.40!
