Turner Duckworth’s Animated A-Z of Design
A-Z of Design
in animated form.
Audience: The first priority is for people to love what they see.
Buy: We don’t design anythign until we know exactly what we’re trying to sell. Nobody buys a Porsche just because they need a car.
Client: We listen and learn. About everything from toilet cleaner to the search for extra-terrestrial intelligence.
Design: We use every little detail to bring the big idea to life.
End: Whatever it takes to get there, the end result is really all that matters.
Fusion: There’s a tiny pathway in the brain where unexpected connections are made. We spend a lot of time poking around in there.
Graphic: It means: “Vividly described in words and images.” (And usually refers to either design or pornography, we specialize in the former.)
Higher: We’re never satisfied. We look at our best work and want to make it even better. It drives us crazy.
Ideas: The most original answer often comes from looking at a problem the wrong way.
Jargon: It just keeps people out of the conversation.
Knockout: Down with mediocrity!
Loyalty: Its value can never be overestimated.
Magic: Those who don’t beleive will never find it.
Nothing: If it doesn’t add anything, we take it away.
Objective: Our sister studios help us edit and improve our ideas, so clients and consumers don’t have to.
Personality: Good looks can attract people, but personality keeps them interested.
Quality: Only the best is good enough.
Risk: To find new ways of doing things, we get off the straight and narrow.
Simplicity: As simple as possible, but no simpler.
Thinking: Get this right and the idea will last a lifetime.
Us: Competitve collaboration makes our work stronger.
Vision: From a distance, our sister studios keep an eye on the big picture while we focus on the detials.
Wit: The unexpected twist that makes a design memorable.
X is always for Xylophone.
Yes!: Nothing feels quite like success.
“Zee” & “Zed”: Over here and over there — the strength of our studios, American and British, working together.
